So I went to The Melting Pot last night with Belle. It was fun... it was nice to get out of the house... but it soooo was not worth the money! I know that you are paying for the experience but now that I've experienced it once, I don't think I need to experience it again, lol.
OK, so you start off with a cheese fondue. They bring you cubed bread, carrots, celery, cauliflower and apples (and depending on which cheese you choose, tortilla chips). They make the fondue at the table in front of you.
Then you get your main course. They have various meats to choose from - the special we got came with a variety of meats - 2 types of beef, chicken and shrimp. There are five types of broth to choose from to cook your meat in. They also bring you a plate of veggies (squash, potatoes, not sure what else since I didn't eat them, lol).
Then comes dessert! YUM! There are several flavors of chocolate to choose from. They bring you a plate of cheesecake, brownies, strawberries, bananas, rice krispie treats, oreo dusted marshmallows, graham cracker dusted marshmallows and pound cake to dip in the chocolate.
The service was awesome except for one tiny detail. The restaurant we went to offers a special called Dipping At Dusk which allows each person to eat for only $25 (I know that still sounds expensive but you should see the rest of the menu!). We foolishly assumed that because we were able to pick two entrees and two desserts, that we also could pick two cheeses. We realized we were wrong when the check came and there was an extra $15 tacked on for the second cheese :( Of course no one bothered to make sure we were aware of this when we were ordering. The manager was nice enough to remove the extra $15 charge when we explained that we didn't know that was the way it worked and had it been explained to us, we would have only ordered one cheese.
So in all, dinner, including tip was $81 ($35 of which was my portion). Honestly, for that price, I would have much rather gone to Chili's, lol. But it was a fun experience and a night away from my kids is priceless!
